Lancaster Theological Seminary announces groundbreaking programs in chaplaincy and spiritual direction

New collaborations provide streamlined, focused paths to meaningful careers.

LTS is leading the way in 21st century theological education. Mindful of the growing needs of students seeking a pathway to alternative faith-based professions, the seminary is responding with collaborative efforts that keep our mission relevant for today’s world. LTS has partnered with two leaders in their respective fields to provide streamlined, focused paths to meaningful careers.

With Lancaster General Hospital, LTS is providing an accelerated combined Master of Divinity degree in chaplaincy. This collaboration offers students the opportunity to earn a Master of Divinity degree and complete four units of clinical pastoral education (CPE).

In partnership with the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation, Washington, DC, LTS offers students the ability to earn a Master of Divinity degree and complete Shalem’s certificate program in spiritual direction.

These new specializations join the youth and young adult ministry track launched in fall 2010 within the Master of Arts in Religion degree program; all represent new models for theological education that are emerging at Lancaster Seminary. While committed to the core degree program designed to prepare persons for parish ministry, LTS is pursuing strategic partnerships and combined programs that enhance our mission to educate those called to Christian service.

Applications are currently being received for fall 2011. A limited number of spaces are available for the MDiv/CPE and MDiv/Spiritual Direction combined programs. For more information, please contact the admissions office at 717-290-8741 or email.
