Justice Summit Weekend Retreat
Friday, Jan. 8 through Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016
The weekend-long retreat is open only to students who have attended a summer Leadership Now Academy.
It allows students to reconnect with their friends from the summer and to meet others who are part of the Leadership Now family.
Focusing on the justice issues that students encountered during the Summer Global Experience (SGE), the retreat is predominately led by students who traveled with Leadership Now during the SGE.
Registration for the Justice Summit Retreat is $85 and includes your stay at Richards Hall and all meals.
"Welcoming the Sojourner" Justice Summit One-Day Event
OPEN TO ALL Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 8:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This one-day event, part of the weekend retreat, is open to any youth and young adults (ages 14-26) who want to explore theology and justice issues alongside their peers. Attendance at the one-day event is not limited to students who have attended the summer Leadership Now program. This year's event will focus on Welcoming the Sojourner, providing a chance for us to gather to talk about issues of migration, immigration and resettlement in America and around the globe.
As Leadership Now prepares a delegation to travel to study immigration at Borderlinks, the news is reporting stories of refugee crises daily, so we will join together at this summit to explore migration issues and the impact on the global community.
This will be a time for us to discuss our responsibility as Christians to care for sojourners and displaced persons, and to end the injustices (including economic disparity and political conflicts) fueling these crises.
The day begins with Registration at 8:45 a.m. in the Lark building. Lunch will be held in our Refectory. The day will conclude with a time of prayer with departure at 4:00 p.m. Cost is $20 and includes lunch.
If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact our director, Rev. Jacquie Church Young, at email@example.com
