Justice Summit Retreat

Justice Summit is a weekend retreat and a reunion for Leadership Now students.  Open only to students who have attended a Leadership Academy, Justice Summit allows students to reconnect with their friends from the summer and to meet others who are part of the Leadership Now family.

Focusing on the justice issues that students encountered during the Summer Global Experience (SGE), the retreat is predominately led by students who traveled with Leadership Now during the SGE.

Registration for the Justice Summit is $85 and includes your stay at Richards Hall and all meals.

The 2015 Justice Summit Retreat will be held Friday, Jan. 2 through Sunday, Jan. 4.

"From Empathy to Activism" Justice Summit

Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015  8:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This one-day event is open to youth and young adults (ages 14-26) who want to explore theology and justice issues alongside their peers. This year's event will focus on moving from Empathy to Activism. The day begins with Registration at 8:45 a.m. in the Lark building. We will then engage in a simulation game dealing with issues of economic justice and immigration which will be led by adults who went on our Borderlinks trip, followed by a large group conversation.  Lunch will be held in our Refectory, and then we will have an afternoon session led by some of our own Leadership Now/Lancaster Theological Seminary young adults who are active in the #blacklivesmatter movement in D.C., Atlanta, and Ferguson.

This challenging conversation will be the starting point for thinking about what issues inspire our own passion,  and how we can begin to make real change in society, bringing the Gospel to life in our deeds as well as our words. The day will conclude with a time of prayer and departing the seminary at 4:00 p.m.  Cost is $20 and includes lunch.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please be in touch with Director Jacquie Church Young at jyoung@lancasterseminary.edu
