To Prepare for Graduation


Please make note of all dates and deadlines.
 
If you anticipate that you will be graduating in May (even if you are not certain), take these steps by the date indicated.

Oct 30, 2016 Submit the application to graduate to the Registrar. This will begin the process of auditing your record.

Nov. 16, 2016 Attend the meeting with graduates at 2 pm in Hafer Center. Students will receive information regarding the pre-commencement worship service, the commencement service itself, tickets for the service, and will be invited to sign up to serve on commencement-related committees.

Late Oct. – Early Nov. 2016 - Meet with your advisor prior to registration week to finalize your Spring registration so you may be certain that all requirements will have been met on schedule. You and your faculty advisor will be able to review your full official record on SONISWEB. While the Office of the Dean, the registrar and the faculty advisor will make every effort to notify the student of any outstanding requirements, the final responsibility for completing the necessary requirements rests with the student.

Dec. 1, 2016 - If your records do not match the official record as reflected on your transcript, make an appointment to meet with Teresa Benneian as soon as possible, but not later than December 1, to resolve them.

Dec. 2016 - Federal Stafford loan borrowers who will have completed all course work and degree requirements by the end of the fall semester or who will register for fewer than 6 credits in the spring semester are required to complete the Stafford Loan exit counseling prior to the end of the Fall semester.

Jan. 2017 Order graduation regalia [required if you are participating in the Commencement service] and optional graduation announcements and/or certificates of appreciation from Josten's website, www.jostens.com 

March 15, 2017Biographical Form  This form must be completed and submitted by April 24. Be sure to indicate if you are the search process, even if it is not confirmed. You need not reveal where or other details, just that you are in the process.

March 16, 2017DMin graduating students must resolve all outstanding balances, including Schaff Library obligations.  Key and parking fobs, parking tags and any seminary keys must be returned. All outstanding Seminary obligations must be discharged  by March 15 in order to graduate and to participate in the Commencement exercises.

Late March 2017 - Tickets will be required for the Commencement Service and will be distributed to graduates by the President's Office. Each Student Will Be Given 10 Tickets. Please let the President’s Office know by Friday, April 1, 2016 if you need additional tickets.In order to maximize the tickets available for those who need them, please let the President’s Office know by Friday, April 1, 2016 if you know you will not use all 10 tickets and how many tickets you would like to contribute to those asking for additional tickets.The President’s Office will then assign the extra tickets to those who requested them.  You will be notified via Seminary email of your additional tickets.

April 16, 2017 - M.Div, MA(R) and Certificate Students must resolve all outstanding balances, including Schaff Library obligations. Move-out date from seminary housing and date for the final walk-through must be confirmed with the Business Office. Key and parking fobs, parking tags and any seminary housing keys must be returned. All outstanding Seminary obligations must be discharged (including May rent) by April 17 in order to graduate and to participate in the Commencement exercises.

May 2017 - All graduating students must complete the online ATS Graduating Student Questionnaire  by June 1. (This is different from the exit counseling session required of federal Stafford loan borrowers.)

May 1, 2017 - Federal Stafford loan borrowers who have completed all course work and degree requirements by the end of the spring semester or who have registered for fewer than 6 credits in the spring semester are required to complete the Stafford Loan exit counseling prior to leaving the institution.

April, 2017 - Seminary Celebration - presentation of academic prizes.

May 5, 2017 - Senior Retreat and Sending Forth (9:00 a.m-3:00 p.m. on the last day of the Spring semester) is mandatory for all Master's graduating seniors. This is an opportunity for reflection on your years of study at LTS, as well as a time of blessing as you embark on  the next steps in your ministry and faith journey. Lunch is included. Anyone who absolutely cannot attend must meet with the Dean. 

May 5, 2017 - Grades for graduating seniors are to be reported to the Dean's office by professors.  Students must find out from professors when work is to be submitted in order to meet this deadline. Incompletes must be resolved by this date. [Must be completed to be cleared to graduate.]

DMin graduating students must make an appointment with Dr. Anne Thayer for an exit interview by the end of the Spring 2017 semester. (This is separate from the exit interview required for Stafford loan purposes.)
