Rev. Adam Hamilton, senior pastor of the largest Methodist church in the United States, presents “Five Essential Principles for Effective Church Leadership,” a free, public talk on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until Noon in the Seminary’s historic Santee Chapel.
A best-selling author, Hamilton founded United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas in 1990 with four members. In 24 years, it has grown into a “megachurch” with 18,700 members and multiple locations. Hamilton “has gained national attention for sermons and writings that bring a civil clarity to divisive issues such as abortion, race, stem cell research and alternative lifestyles,” according to the Kansas City Star.
Hamilton will appear at the Seminary as part of the theological school’s Fall Alumni/ae Day events. His visit is co-sponsored by First United Methodist Church Lancaster and the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.
In a second Lancaster appearance at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 23, Hamilton will present “Making Sense of the Bible,” a free public talk at First United Methodist Church of Lancaster, 29 E. Walnut St., followed by a book signing.Location: Santee Chapel in the Lark Building
