Dr. Anabel Proffitt will deliver the Fall 2014 Convocation address, "Theological Education and the Arts: Playing with Points of View."
Theological education provides learners with a variety of frames for reading the world, while also developing learners' ability to shift frames in different contextual settings. Art-making has a distinctive role in this process: the act of artistic expression becomes a form of conversation with the material being studied, allowing the learner to enter the process as an actor, and not just a receiver.
There will also be a workshop from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Hafer Center
Title: Scissors and Paste: It's Not Just For Kids Anymore
In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the media of poetry and collage as avenues to theological insight.
Location: Santee Chapel in the Lark Building
