All are welcome to attend our Fall Revival in Santee Chapel featuring Preacher Nick Peterson and the music of Salt n Light, a jazz fusion group based in Lancaster. The revival is free and open to all.
Nick Peterson, who earned a Master of Divinity at Lancaster Seminary in 2013, is a Ph.D. student in the Graduate Division of Religion at Emory University in Atlanta. He is part of the ministerial team at New Bethel AME Church in Lithonia, Ga., and is a candidate for ordination in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. As a graduate student and practical theologian, Nick investigates the complicated relationship between race and religious practice. He explores how Christian practices, liturgical and otherwise, overtly and covertly function as conduits of white supremacy and anti-blackness. Using interdisciplinary approaches, Nick seeks to identify and think through liturgical and imaginative theological strategies that overwhelm white supremacy and whiteness as the normative standard. Nick is married to the lovely NaKisha C. Peterson (neé Jackson) and is the father of twin boys, Zayden and Zander.Location: Santee Chapel
