Dr. Nelson, coordinator of Ministerial Formation, is teaching the Ministerial Studies section, Theology and the Spiritual Journey. She has been involved in this class since 2006 and is committed to the importance of spiritual growth and development as the foundation of theological education.
Dr. Nelson completed her training in Spiritual Direction with The Center for Spiritual Formation in 2008 and has worked as a spiritual director since that time. She became Director of The Center in 2018 where she assists in expanding the Ministry of Spiritual Direction program, with three online cohorts being added to the face-to-face cohort that began in 1998.
She believes in the value of learning spiritual practices that help to shape and define a person’s ministry and life. As such we are grounded in a deep relationship with God that is best understood when lived out in relationship with others. This relationship creates beloved community wherever we find ourselves, whether in a classroom, leading a church, or part of a family or neighborhood.
Dr. Nelson’s classes are created to challenge students to discover where they are in relationship to themselves, God and others and then develop their leadership skills to help others to do the same.
