All classes are conveniently held online, and offer continuing education units for those seeking class credit. Tuition is $325 per six-session class.
Rabbi Jack Paskoff of Congregation Shaari Shomayim in Lancaster, and a popular adjunct instructor at the Seminary, will teach Jews and The American Civil Rights Movement online on six Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm starting Jan. 11, 2023.
Rev. Matthew Deal, pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Somerset, Penn., will teach two church history classes: the first, Church History I, starts with the earliest beginnings of Christianity up to the beginning rumblings of the Reformation. This six-session online class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:30pm starting Jan. 10, 2023. His second class, Church History II, begins with the religious upheaval of the Reformation and follows its ripples through to the present day. This six-session class meets on Zoom on Tuesday and Thursdays from 7:00-8:30pm starting Feb. 23, 2023.
Instructor Kelsey Wallace of Drew University will offer Biblical Interpretation I and II, an introduction to the art and practice of biblical interpretation. The class will use basic interpretive skills, consider historical context, translation, literary analysis, and social location as means of understanding the bible in order to be a responsible public interpreter of scripture. Biblical Interpretation I will be held online on six Tuesdays from 7:00-=8:30pm starting April 11, 2023. Biblical Interpretation II will be held online on six Tuesdays starting May 23, 2023.
