Moravian University Lancaster Planting Seeds in the Community with Micro-Gardening Event July 31

Shauna Yorty

Officials from Moravian University, Lancaster and the Lancaster Theological Seminary hosted a micro-gardening workshop on July 31 on the historic Seminary’s Ann B. Barshinger Campus. Lancaster area gardener Shauna Yorty, shown here, led the nearly two dozen attendees. Community members, both young and old, showed up to grab a bucket, add some soil, and skillfully plant the ingredients needed to make a perfect salsa later this summer.

The community-focused event series, the second held by Moravian University, Lancaster and the Seminary this year, hopes to bring area residents together to make new friends, learn new things, and help build a stronger community. Officials would like to thank Lowes, Miller’s Greenhouse and Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill for help supporting this event.

The next community event to be held this fall is to be an “Antiques Roadshow” style appraisal event. Keep your eye on the Seminary website for more information.
