Lancaster Theological Seminary and Elizabethtown College School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) are partnering to offer an exclusive accelerated admission process for students who are interested in pursuing a Master of Divinity but do not have a bachelor’s degree, which is required for graduate studies.
Under the agreement, students who complete one of the eight SCPS accelerated bachelor degree programs will qualify for an exclusive accelerated admission process into the Master of Divinity program at Lancaster Seminary.
The accelerated admission process is designed for adult students who are working full-time and need educational options and schedules that fit into their busy lives. Some SCPS classes will be held on-site at Lancaster Seminary, other classes will be held at SCPS locations in Lancaster, Elizabethtown, York, and Harrisburg, and some will be either fully online or in a blended format that combines online learning with classroom education.
Dr. David Mellott, Lancaster Theological Seminary dean and vice president of academic affairs, says, “Our exciting agreement with Elizabethtown College creates another path by which people can respond to their call to ministry, and which prepares them well for graduate theological studies and their future life of service whether in lay or ordained ministry.”
This partnership reflects the focus of each institution, according to Barbara Randazzo, dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Elizabethtown College. “We both are dedicated to advancing adult education, community enhancement, and service,” she said. “Student commitment to continuing education in areas such as counseling, spiritual formation, religion, ministry, and more is an extension of a life of service. This partnership enriches higher educational offerings in Lancaster communities and beyond.”
Lancaster Seminary’s new Master of Divinity program – open to students of any denomination – features two convenient ways to earn the advanced degree: a weekday program with classes held Tuesdays through Friday mornings, and a weekend program with classes held Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
SCPS offers bachelor’s degree programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Corporate Communication, Criminal Justice, Health Care Administration, Human Services, Human Services with a concentration in Behavioral and Addictions Counseling, and Information Systems.
